Left Hand Pain is a project that includes two parts: Left Hand Pain / Movement Studies; a series of 36 photographs and Left Hand Pain / Forks; a unique photograms artist book.
In the series of 36 photographs inspired by physical therapy exercises and Edward Muybridge movement studies, I move between gentle stretches and extreme stretches that may be harmful. Using the historical reference as a scientific point of reference, the search for proof, and verification by a machine that may create a viable image of the internal.
In the photograms, I blend form and content by playing with focus and perception; intentionally positioning a piece of glass unevenly - parts of the text become blurry and not legible. As the text takes a more abstract form, at times the visual overpowers the language, and the revealing text in its content can be easily overlooked.
